Academy Development & Implementation
The success of implementing a civilian police force based on the principles of democratic policing and the rule of law
hinges on the basic training police recruits receive during their initial training. Without a solid foundation in basic police
skills that are accepted by the international community, the recruit is doomed to fail. Therefore, the development and
implementation of a police training academy that is focused on establishing a solid foundation of basic police skills that
is applicable to the project country.
PBSI’s team of advisors understand the differences between training civilian police in the US and training civilian police
in developing democracies and post conflict nations. They have provided academy development assistance in Kosovo, Kuwait, Macedonia
and Panama. Additionally, our team has former directors of nationally accredited law enforcement training academies who understand
the concepts of adult learning and the universal instruction techniques that have proven effective in training police recruits.
